Vonnegut Assignment #2
When some people fight with their friends, usually it’s over something pretty stupid and unimportant like where they’re going this weekend, or boyfriends, or having the same shirt or something along those lines. Don’t they realize that there are more important issues going on in the world besides whether or not you look fat in that shirt or are having a bad hair day? High school is really one big soap opera. No one really has a point in fighting over anything they usually do. Everyone gossips about everybody else’s business, and I’m not saying I don’t, because I do. You have to learn who you can trust and who you can’t, because if you trust in the wrong people, they might just turn around and stab you in the back. If you have one good friend who you can trust, you’re pretty much set for the duration of high school, because no one can go it alone.

Good start. Pursue this as a short story for indpendent writing! Conversational, mildly satirical, a bit foreboding. There's certainly some Vonnegut in there. Organize into short paragraphs to model his structure.
